A cellular blanket is a special type of knitted blanket with lots of little holes that allow the air to flow, helping to regulate temperature. Lightweight, breathable cellular blankets are great for everyday use, whether you’re laying over your baby while they’re in your arms, the pram or tucked up in a Moses basket.

The best size for a baby blanket really depends on your baby's age and how you intend to use it. Our 75cm x 75cm cellular blankets and 80cm x 100cm fleece blankets are brilliantly versatile options, ideal for supervised snuggles in prams, cribs and Moses baskets.

Babies can sleep with a lightweight, breathable blanket from birth, but only if used as a swaddle or tucked in firmly under the mattress and positioned at chest height. Loose blankets, on the other hand, should not be introduced until 12–18 months when your child can move around more freely.

Baby blankets are a versatile option for bedding and on-the-go layering. If, like many parents, you use them regularly, it can be a good idea to have 2–3 blankets in your rotation. That way, you always have a spare even if you have one in use and another in the wash.

When putting your baby to sleep with a cellular blanket, position the blanket no higher than chest level and tuck it in securely beneath the mattress on both sides and the bottom so it cannot ride up over your baby’s face. Avoid loose bedding, pillows, duvets or overheating.
